Tubes

Took Eliott to the doc today to check out his ears because he got the same "cold" I've had and is now pulling at his ears. "They don't look good" we heard from the doc. He's 16 months old and his vocabulary consists of mama, dada, ball and sometimes you can make out dog, so she's worried that the fluid is causing his speech delay so we're off to the ENT next week to talk about tubes.
We're all lonely this week without Denzil. He went on a business trip to California and I know it's just my messed up pregnancy hormones but I feel so lonely and kind of sad. I know it will fly by and he'll be home before I know it but it's still so weird not having him coming home at night. The kids have done pretty good. They've been talking to him on the phone. Phoebe tells him all about her day and what we're going to do tomorrow and Eliott listens to him and then blows him kisses, it's really cute! Surprisely Phoebe's been great and hasn't thrown that many fits at all, WOW! But usually by the time he comes back it takes her a day or two to warm back up to him and he absolutely hates that! But maybe it won't happen this time.
Well gotta go bake muffins for bible study tomorrow-

Lex just had tubes in about a month ago. We have noticed a HUGE difference since he had it done. He had lots of ear infections and apparently always had the fluid even if it was not infected. He didn't say very many words and we found out it was because his hearing was affected from the fluid. The ENT said his adnoids were enlarged and blocking his eustachian tubes so the fluid couldn't drain out of his ears and also blocking his nasal drainage (he always had a runny nose). So they took out his adnoids and got tubes put in. Now he is talking all the time and no runny nose! He says new words every day. If Eliott's hearing is being affected and he does need tubes, you will probably see an increase in vocabulary shortly after. The worst part is definately right after the surgery when they are waking up from the anesthesia. Its downhill from there. Hope everything goes well! We'll be praying for you!
